Johnston agrees to plea deal

Sherry Johnston pleaded guilty to a drug charge Wednesday after striking a deal with the prosecution.

The mother of Levi Johnston admitted to one Class A felony for attempting to sell the pain killer OxyContin to a police informant. In return, the state dropped the remaining five charges.

A Class A felony carries with it a five- to eight-year presumptive sentence. The prosecution agreed to a five-year sentence with three years to serve and two suspended because of the small quantity of drugs in Johnston’s possession.

Johnson will be formally sentenced Nov. 20 and held at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center in Eagle River until then.

She was escorted out of the courtroom in hot pink handcuffs.
