Sarah Johnston and Ryan Lorimer, both of Wasilla, were married Dec. 22, 2011, on Makaha Beach, Oahu, Hawaii.
The ceremony was officiated by Ryan’s father, Alan Lorimer (aka “Pop”). Maid of honor was Sarah’s longtime best friend Hannah Whitley, who made the trek from Seattle and became engaged while in Hawaii. The best man was the one and only Shef, who came all the way from Boston. Everyone on the trip swears Ryan and Shef were separated at birth.
The two soul mates were married in a heartfelt ceremony where the bride and groom recited their own vows to each other. They were married on the beach of their favorite Hawaiian island, Oahu, surrounded by family and friends from Alaska and all the way to Massachusetts.
The reception was a great party with the bride and groom’s favorite L&L Hawaiian Barbecue catering the event, and the signature cocktail skip and “go naked” punch. They spent Christmas with family on the beach and on Dec. 26, jetted off to the Big Island to spend two weeks there on their honeymoon. They took full advantage of what the island had to offer and did activities such as zip lining, a helicopter tour and kayaking adventures.
Sarah is the daughter of Greg and Kathy Johnston of Wasilla. She is a graduate of East Anchorage High School. Sarah is promoter and owner of Alaska Fighting Championship. She has a 10-year-old daughter, Audrey, who adores Ryan and was thrilled to add him to the family.
Ryan is the son of Alan Lorimer and Susan DiPrete of Anchorage. A member of Alpha Delta Phi, Ryan is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management. He is employed with the U.S. Department of the Interior.
