Join the ‘Green Mustache Movement’ for National 4-H Week Oct. 6-12

MAT-SU — Alaska 4-H is celebrating National 4-H Week Oct. 6-12 with green smoothies, a national science experiment and other activities.

Alaska youths may join the “Green Mustache Movement” by making a smoothie with spinach and fruit and sending a photo of their green smoothie mustache to the Alaska 4-H Facebook page. See the healthy recipe and more about it at bit.ly/1cwstFN.

Youths in Alaska and around the country participated in the National Youth Science Day experiment Wednesday. “4-H Maps and Apps” will introduce them to the importance of geographic information systems and GPS as they design and map their ideal park using data from the U.S. Geological Survey. Contact local 4-H offices to find out where and when National 4-H week activities are planned.

The youth development program emphasizes leadership, citizenship and life skills. 4-H in the U.S. is offered through the Cooperative Extension Service and land-grant universities. More about 4-H is available at bit.ly/1fjAgb1.
