We are saddened to say that Palmer resident, formerly from Idaho, Jon Darol Long, 60, passed away October 24, 2020 at his home of natural causes. Services will be held on November 7th at Farm Loop Christian Center at 2 pm. A military honors ceremony will be held in Boise, Idaho in December 2020.
Jon was born in Santa Rosa, California, May 25, 1960. Jon attended college at Washington State University and received his Associate of Science from Vincennes University. Jon also served his country honorably in the United States Army for 12 years, having served during Desert Storm and achieving the rank of E6, Staff Sgt., and Power Production Specialist.
On April 18, 1981, Jon married Treasea Boodry and was blessed to have spent 40 years with his best friend and wife. They traveled throughout Europe, stationed in Germany, and continued their adventures throughout the world together. Jon and Treasea moved to Palmer from Boise, Idaho in August of 2019, as it was his lifelong dream to live in the last frontier of Alaska. He was employed by Electric Power Constructors in Anchorage as a Substation Technician and prior to was the founder of, and employed by, CurrenTechnologies from 1994 to 2019. He was a member of the IBEW and IEEE power engineers. He was a member of the Cowboy Fast draw Association #299. He built bunkbeds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, loved fishing and hunting, and especially loved to touch other’s lives by providing acts of random kindness everywhere he went.
Jon is survived by his wife Treasea of 39 years, his children Adrianne (Justin) Boyd of Meridian, Idaho; Mandy (Cory) White of Middleton, Idaho; and Elyssa Long of Meridian, Idaho; five granddaughters, Kali Boyd, Klara Boyd, Kailyn Boyd, Cora White, and Autumn White; his parents, Jon and Dianne Long of Boise, Idaho; three sisters, Susan Prince of Arizona, Cheryl Sheldon of Hawaii, and Pam Nunziato of Connecticut.
Jon’s favorite quote, “We don’t have crisis because we have faith.”
