Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Judy (Jones) Orvis, 67, died Aug. 6, 2004, at the Mille Lacs Nursing Home in Onamia, Minn. Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at the Holy Cross Center, with the Rev. Joe Boeringa officiating. Burial followed in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Onamia, Minn.
Judith Anne Jones was born Nov. 12, 1936, in Palmer, to Colonist parents, Vernon and Eleanor Jones. She spent her early childhood years in Palmer before the family moved back to Minnesota in 1945, where she attended and graduated from Onamia High School. In 1955, she married Harold Orvis in Onamia. They later moved to the metro area.
Mrs. Orvis was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; three infant children and her father, Vernon Jones Sr.
She is survived by her mother, Eleanor (Wood) Jones, of Onamia; sons, Doyle Orvis of Onamia and Paul Orvis of St. Joseph, Minn.; daughters, Dawn (Randy) Vivant and Peggy Orvis, both of Onamia; brother, Vernon Jones Jr., of Buffalo, Minn.; sisters, Peggy (Richard) Benz of Aitkin, Minn., and Phyllis (Jim) Flasch of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; six grandchildren, Josh, Amanda, Alicia, Sarah, Kayla and Cole and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Aubrie.
