To the editor,
The winds blow strong in Palmer and if Usibelli and the Mental Health Trust Authority team up, you can be sure coal dust will be blowing your way. I’m a recent transplant from the Lower 48 where air quality and health concerns are proved to go hand in hand with inflammation and disease. Alaska is the safe haven for clean air and a place I have come with my family for a better quality of life and a healthier future. So for my family and neighbors, I’m writing this letter to ask you to join me in stopping the lease of land that would enable coal mining in the valley. I don’t want to see our pristine air polluted with coal dust. Comments are due to the Alaska Mental Health Trust by 4:30 p.m. on Jan 19 — send yours in to mhtlo@alaska.gov.
