Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

K.C. and Charlene Christensen will celebrate 50 years of marriage October 2, 2015. They were married at St. Mary's Catholic church in Reliance, South Dakota.
K.C. was a farmer and rancher in South Dakota before moving to Alaska with family in 1982. He retired from UAF's Matanuska Experimental Station and has spent the past many years traveling with Charlene around the country visiting family and friends.
Charlene graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in journalism and spent the first years of marriage teaching, farming and raising children. She retired in 2007 after 42 years of teaching. However, those who've met Charlene know her true passion is and always has been fishing.
The couple met in college and have spent the last 33 years of their marriage in Alaska. They are the parents of John Christensen, Sara (Mark) Burley, Anne McCabe, Amy (Corey) Roberts, Nancy (Adam) Tellier and Clinton (Ginger) Christensen. They also have 20 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The Christensen family cordially invites friends and family to celebrate K.C. and Charlene's anniversary with a potluck on Friday, October 2, from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Palmer.
