• Kaitlyn Benedict of Wasilla won a third-place ribbon and a $4,000 scholarship in the Junior Showmanship competition of the 138th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York City Feb. 11. The Wasilla High School junior showed a black-and-white Landseer Newfoundland named Ziggy Marley born at the family’s BeringStrait Newfoundlands kennel in Wasilla. She is the daughter of Kelly Benedict of Wasilla.
