Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Katherine Sue Erickson, 58, died Nov. 3, 2004, at Valley Hospital in Palmer.
A small service was held Nov. 5, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Palmer.
Mrs. Erickson was born Feb. 26, 1946, in Masena, Iowa.
She began her Alaska residency in 1978, living in Anchorage until 1984, when she moved to Palmer.
Mrs. Erickson worked at the Alaska USA Federal Credit Union in Anchorage from 1980 to 1984 and then worked at the Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union from 1984 until 1997, when she retired.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, stained glass and crafting.
Her family wrote, "Katherine and Ernest had a close and loving marriage for 35 years. Her children and grandchildren meant everything to her. Her sense of humor, laughter, and her love will be greatly missed."
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Erickson; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Joni Plowman of Napa, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and Chris Finley of Wasilla; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Robyn Erickson; grandchildren, Ashley and Brittany Plowman of Napa, Calif., and Hailey and Sheridan Finley of Wasilla; sisters, Peg McCrillis, Shirley Angus and Mary Jo Bevel and brothers, Greg Greenwalt, Tom Greenwalt and Jim Greenwalt.
Her ashes will be scattered in the spring around her Valley property.
Arrangements were made by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
