KATHLEEN MAE THOMPSON

Funeral services will take place today, May 9, for Wasilla resident Kathleen Mae Thompson, 53. Mrs. Thompson died at home, May 4, 2003, following a battle with breast cancer.

Mrs. Thompson was born July 12, 1949, in Walla Walla, Wash. She graduated from Walla Walla High School and moved to Alaska in 1972. After living in Anchorage for seven years she moved to Wasilla, where she resided for 24 years. She was a member of the Wasilla Breast Cancer Support Group and a member of T.O.P.S for many years. Her family described her as an excellent cook and baker and noted that she enjoyed making crafts and giving them as gifts, adding, "she was very giving of her time and energies."

She is survived by her husband Kenneth "Fuzzy" Thompson and daughter Amy Gregg, both of Wasilla. She also leaves many loving family members and special friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Deina Rae Colley and her father, Paul Colley.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. at Wasilla Bible Church on Lucille Road in Wasilla, with Pastor Larry Kroon officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kathleen Thompson Memorial Fund, c/o Key Bank, 201 N. Lucille St., Wasilla AK 99654.
