WASILLA — The Wasilla Warriors put 40 shots on net, but couldn’t slip one by Kenai goalie Keegan Remsen.
Kenai scored a pair of late goals and Remsen made 40 saves to earn the shutout Thursday and lead the Kards to a 2-0 North Star Conference win over Wasilla at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla.
Wasilla outshot Kenai 40-10 in the game, and 13-1 in the second period. Kenai didn’t finish with more than five shots in any period, and Wasilla didn’t have less than 11.
TJ Wagoner scored with six minutes remaining in regulation to break the scoreless tie, and Jake Eubank added a power-play goal with less than two minutes remaining. It’s the second close game between the
NSC rivals this season. The teams skated to a tie early in the season.
Wasilla continues play against Homer at 5 p.m. tonight at the Brett Arena. Kenai is at Palmer, facing the Moose at 7 p.m. at the MTA Events Center.
