Kenneth Huling passed from this life into heaven on February 24, 2024 at age 93 with his daughter Kenda at his side. As a lifelong Christian he was always giving to others of his time, his bountiful garden veggies, and of the fish he caught. He lived as a child on his family’s farm in Colorado moving to Alaska with his family when he graduated from High School. He served in the Korean War during territorial days of Alaska. He lived a full Alaskan experience flying his airplane, hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping outdoors with nature.
Ken spent a winter at Two Lakes, Alaska with his friend, Vic Linhart, where they built a log cabin from logs they fell and peeled then lived off the land. He had a positive “can do” happy outlook on life and was an exemplary leader to his family, friends, and all that he met. He gave his children a solid Godly foundation by example and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Miriam Huling, who passed away on December 27, 2023, his parents Howard and Vivian Huling, his younger siblings, Wanda Reed, Roe Huling, Ruby Polson, and Paul Huling.
He is survived by his three children, Kenda Huling, Lorita (Kevin) Shumway, and Clinton (Judith) Huling, 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, his youngest sister Blanche Fried, 2 sisters-in-law, 5 brothers-in-law, 16 nieces, 13 nephews, and numerous extended family and friends. A special thanks to Hospice and family friends for their support and care in Ken’s last days. You made this process easier to navigate.
A celebration of life will be held for Kenneth and Miriam Huling on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 1pm at Immanual Baptist Church on Trunk Road, Palmer, AK 99645.
