Anchorage resident, Kenneth Rushing, 71, died in a car accident in Big Lake on June 2, 2003.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, at Klinger Memorial Funeral Home, 1635 N. Benton in Springfield, Mo. No local services are planned.

Mr. Rushing was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Springfield.

He became a resident of Alaska in 1996.

Mr. Rushing traveled to Alaska since 1978 working as a computer analyst for Chevron USA. He retired in 1985.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Beaverton, Ore., the Chevron Retirees Association and the Big Lake Chamber of Commerce.

He received ballroom dancing awards and golf trophies and awards.

Mr. Rushing loved to golf.

His family wrote, "Ken brought humor to every situation. His very kind and gentle nature made him a friend of many. Ken will be dearly missed as he was the person we knew we could all count on."

Mr. Rushing is survived by his wife Cheryl Ponder; sons, Ken Rushing Jr. of Beaverton, Ore., David Rushing of Hollywood, Calif.; daughters, Terri Rushing and Leslie Rushing of Seattle, Wash.; step-children, Eric and Janice Peterson and Dexter and Jody Moses of Anchorage; granddaughters, Melinda Rushing and Kenny Rushing of Portland, Ore., and Sydney Moses of Anchorage; and his "grand-dog," Max.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
