Wasilla High School is looking out for KIDS there by hosting a steak feed on Nov. 1.
Doug Bean, the activities director at Wasilla High School, is hosting the steak dinner as a fund-raiser for the KIDS account.
KIDS stands for Kids in Dire Straits, and the money raised goes to help students who can't afford to participate in activities get a chance to do so.
Whether helping to cover a uniform cost or the activity fee itself, the KIDS account at WHS has helped countless students enjoy extra-curricular activities the last several years, Bean said.
Bean also said the money goes to help students in a wide range of activities at WHS, not just sports. Money can be used to help a student with such programs as Close Up, student government or any other activity, Bean said.
Each year Bean hosts a steak feed to help raise the needed money.
On Nov. 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at American Legion Post 35, dinner guests will be treated to a New York steak, salad, vegetables and a potato.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the WHS activities office, from a student government representative or at the door.
For more information about the steak feed or about the KIDS program in general, interested people can call Bean at 352-8249.
