PALMER — Former Colony High basketball standout Kaitlyn Klapperich has found a new home for her high-tops, signing to play for Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
Klapperich’s decorated prep career included first team all-state and all-conference honors in 2010 and 2011. She led Colony squads to a state championship in 2008, to the state championship game in 2009 and a Northern Lights Conference championship in 2011.
Klapperich played last year at Division II Regis University in Denver, Colo.
“It was just a different style of play at Regis, (I felt) out of my element,” said Klapperich, a business communications major who made the dean’s list at Regis University.
Klapperich follows former Valley youth basketball coach Greg Ray to CMU, an NAIA school.
“Coach Ray kind of taught me everything that I know,” she said.
“Kate is a really nice athlete who can play and defend multiple positions for us,” CMU head coach James Arnold said. “We truly believe Kate’s best basketball is ahead of her.”
