A trio of Colony wrestlers earned the top spots of their weight class, and the Knights finished second in the team standings of the John Tobin Invitational at North Pole High School on Saturday.
Aaron Boss, Hollan Gravely and Chad Custer were each crowned champions after the eight-team event.
Boss earned a 5-2 win over South Anchorage's Ross Edelen to win the 103-pound title. Gravely scored a 17-2 technical fall of host North Pole's Cameron Crawford to win at 130. Custer defeated South's Brian Hunsicker 6-4 in the 135-pound final.
Josh West and Matt Norton also advanced to the finals for Colony.
Derek Templeton of West Valley edged West 10-9 in the 112-pound final. South senior Scott Lucas, the meet's outstanding wrestler, defeated Norton 17-1 in the 189-pound championship.
South won with team title with 225 total points. Ten Wolverines advanced to the finals, and five won titles.
Colony finished with 168 total points. Lathrop finished third with 166.5 points.
Houston hockey squad
posts weekend sweep
The Houston High School hockey team earned three wins during a three-day, three-game road trip to the Interior.
Houston senior goaltender Paul Sutton-Jones led the Hawks, allowing just one goal during the weekend.
Sutton-Jones and the Hawks opened the trip with a 3-0 nonconference shutout of large-school North Pole.
Houston also posted a two-game sweep of conference-rival Delta in a key 3A series.
Sutton-Jones stopped 33 shots in two wins over the Huskies.
