Knight pucksters win pair

The Colony Knight hockey squad swept a pair of home games at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena last weekend.

The Knights scored a pivotal conference victory with a 5-3 win over Skyview on Saturday and pounded Nikiski 15-3 in nonconference action the night before.

Scott Beckman took a pass from Dean Shultz and put the puck past Skyview netminder Koy Kyle with just more than five minutes remaining in the second period to break a 2-2 deadlock. The Beckman goal gave Colony a 3-2 lead.

Chris Crosta scored the eventual game winner midway through the third period.

Alan Markus and Nolan Rein each saw action in the win. Rein was credited for the victory after stopping 13 shots in the final two periods.

A pair of Knights notched hat tricks in the blowout victory over Nikiski. Ryan Pauling scored four goals and Crosta added three against the 3A club. Pauling also added three assists. Ten different Knights scored in the contest. Eleven Colony players registered points.

Kostas Lambernakis also had three helpers in the game.

Rein had 11 saves in net for the Knights.

Colony improved to 7-11 with the victories.
