Knight swimmers second at Valdez Invitational

The Colony Knights finished fourth in the combined team scores in the Valdez Invitational swimming meet Sept. 27-28.

The Knights finished with 266 points, behind Juneau-Douglas (533), North Pole (433) and Lathrop (421).

Wasilla finished ninth overall (102 points) and Palmer placed 10th overall (92 points).

Colony finished second in the girls' scores and seventh in the boys' scores.

The Colony girls had strong performances in the relay events. The Knight relay teams finished first in the 200 yard freestyle relay and second in the 400 yard freestyle relay.

Elise Long won the 200-yard individual medley for the Knight girls and placed second in the 100-yard breastroke. Colony also had strong finishes from Sarah Brettrager (fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard backstroke), Jorin Kiawitter (fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle).

The local prep swimming squads will all compete in a meet at Bartlett Oct. 5.
