WASILLA — The Colony Knights are joining the Wasilla Warriors in the state baseball tournament.
Colony clinched the region’s second automatic bid with a 13-3 win over Grace Christian during the final day of the Southcentral Conference Championships, Saturday at Redington.
Brayden Methven pitched a complete game, scattering six hits without allowing an earned run en route to the win. Trace Severson and Carson McLaughlin scored three runs each. Severson also drove in a pair. Zach Satterly led the Knights with four RBI. Kaden Ketchum added two RBI.
Colony bounced back from a 4-1 loss to Wasilla in the conference title game Friday night. Both teams are now part of the ASAA/First National Bank State Baseball Championships, which start Thursday at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage. Southcentral Conference champ Wasilla drew defending state champion Juneau-Douglas in the first round, and will play the Crimson Bears Thursday at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinals. Colony opens the tournament against 2019 Southeast Conference champion Ketchikan Thursday at 10 a.m.
