PALMER — Sometimes, earning a victory simply comes down to taking advantage of opportunities.
And when the Colony had its chances, the Knights cashed in.
Colony turned three fumble recoveries into 17 second-half points during a 44-19 win over the Wasilla Warriors at Colony High School on Friday.
Senior Ben McGraw recovered a Wasilla fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half to set up a Matt Jaronik touchdown run. Seniors J.D. Mayo and Eric Fan also recovered fumbles that preceded Colony scores as the Knights improved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in Railbelt play.
Jaronik, Colony’s senior quarterback, factored in on five of the six Colony scores. Jaronik threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more.
Junior Skye Rench also reached the end zone for the Knights.
Seniors Tony Lapiz and Chris Bydlon scored for Wasilla.
The Warriors dropped to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the Railbelt.
