The Colony Knights relay team enjoyed a big weekend during a set of swimming and diving duals against the Kodiak Bears in Kodiak.
The Knights finished first in the boys 200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay events on Friday. In the medley, the Knights had Thomas Smith swimming backstroke (28.82 seconds), Hudson Duguid swimming breaststroke (32.23), Isaiah Hulien swimming butterfly (25.49) and Kellan DenBleyker swimming freestyle (23.91). In the 200 freestyle, Landeyn Halstead, Duguid, Reven Settle and Grady Dhondt with a total time of 1:39.27. The Colony boys won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:41.65. The team consisted of Kellan DenBleyker, Smith, Dhondt and Hulien.
The Colony girls won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. The Knights had Makenzie Edgar swimming backstroke (35.70), Jasmine Anderson swimming breaststroke (30.16), Aubrey Bunch swimming butterfly( 33.28) and Hannah Cooper swimming freestyle (26.62) in the medley. The Colony girls won the 200 freestyle relay with Chloe Blackburn, Cooper, Maraya Dunford, and Anderson with a total time of 1:51.79.
On Saturday, the Colony boys repeated as winners in all three relay races. The Knights had Smith swimming backstroke (29.31), Duguid swimming breaststroke (33.11), Halstead swimming butterfly (26.40) and Settle swimming freestyle (23.93). The total time was 1:52.75. The Colony boys won the 200 freestyle relay with DenBleyker, Smith, Dhondt and Hulien with a time of 1:40.09, and the 400 free relay with DenBleyker, Settle, Dhondt and Hulien with a time of 4:21.47.
The Colony girls won the 200 medley and freestyle relays on Saturday. In the medley, the Knights had Cooper swimming backstroke (30.41), Anderson swimming breaststroke (30.45), Kendyl Ligman swimming butterfly (34.48) and Chloe Blackburn swimming freestyle (29.27). The total time was 2:04.61. The Colony girls won the 200 freestyle relay with Cooper, Blackburn, Ligman and Anderson with a time of 1:52.99.
In the individual events, Colony’s winners included: Anderson (girls 200 IM), Settle (boys 200 IM, boys 500 freestyle), Dhondt (boys 50 freestyle), Charlize McManus (girls diving), Hulien (boys 100 butterfly), Cooper (girls 500 freestyle, girls 100 backstroke), DenBleyker (boys 100 backstroke), Duguid (boys 100 breaststroke) on Friday, and Cooper (girls 200 freestyle, girls 500 freestyle), Smith (boys 200 freestyle), DenBleyker (boys 200 IM), Hulien (boys 100 butterfly), Settle (boys 100 backstroke) and Anderson (girls 100 breaststroke).
Also on Saturday, McManus won the girls diving with a score of 240.05 which made her the new Colony diving recorder holder. Emily Worley, the Colony diving coach, set the record in 2006. The previous record was 239.05, and it stood for 17 years.
The Palmer Moose and Wasilla Warriors were also in action, competing in the Kenai Invitational.
Adie Charton led Valley athletes with a pair of wins. The Palmer swimmer was first in the 50 and 100 freestyle events. Palmer also won the 200 medley relay.
The Moose placed second in the girls team standings.
London Lee finished first in the boys 200 IM for Palmer. The Moose also won the boys 200 medley relay.
Travis Thornton won the boys diving to lead Wasilla.
