Knights earn top seed in NLC volleyball tourney

The Northern Lights Conference Championships volleyball bracket has been released and Colony Knights are the top seed.

Colony is at the top of the standings of the five-team conference with a 6-2 record. Wasilla is the No. 2 seed, winning the tiebreaker after finishing the regular season locked in the standings with Soldotna at 5-3. Palmer (4-4) is the No. 4 seed.

Palmer and fifth-seeded Kodiak (0-8) open tourney play Thursday at 3 p.m. at Soldotna High School. The winner will face top-seeded Colony Thursday at 7 p.m. In the other game on the first day, the Warriors and Stars clash at 5 p.m.

The tournament continues through Saturday. The championship match is set for Saturday at 1 p.m. The top three squads in the double-elimination tournament will advance to the state championships.
