WASILLA — The Colony Knights split four matches during a meet with Wasilla and Lumen Christi Thursday afternoon at Wonderland Park in Wasilla.
Frank Urbano beat Matthew Allen 6-0, 6-2 in boys’ singles. Kati Renfro and Sahara Iverson also won for the Knights, beating Badger and Galwiaczk 6-2, 6-3 in girls’ doubles.
Wasilla’s victory came in the girls’ singles, with Sumie Hirobe posting a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Maryssa Scarcello.
Lumen Christi’s Sophia Main beat Scarcello 6-0, 6-2 in girls’ singles.
Knights compete in Fairbanks
The Colony Knights earned a dozen wins during two days worth of tennis during a trip to Fairbanks last week.
The trip included a 3-2 start against West Valley. Brennan Easley and Logan Crawford (boys’ doubles), Kyle Leadbeter and Mason Sheldon (mixed doubles) and Alyssa Jensen and Emma Kirk (girls’ doubles) posted wins.
Leadbetter (boys’ singles) and L Leadbetter and Cabalas (mixed doubles) earned victories against Lathrop.
During the second day of the trip, Colony finished 3-2 in five matches against Hutchison. Maryssa Scarcello (girls’ singles), Sheldon and Leah Wyzykowski (girls’ doubles) and Lauren Leadbetter and Darien Cabalas (mixed doubles) all scored victories against the Hawks.
The Knights also finished 3-3 in a half-dozen matches against Monroe. Crawford and Easley (boys’ doubles), Scarcello (girls’ singles) and Eby and Emily Olson (mixed doubles) al played to victory.
