WASILLA — For the second time in three nights, Wasilla found itself falling just short to a Valley rival.

Just like Wasilla’s loss 3-2 loss to Palmer on Tuesday, Wasilla’s 3-2 loss to Colony on Thursday could not have been any closer. The Knights scored a 3-2 (25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-13) win over the Warriors at Wasilla High. The Warriors also suffered a 15-13 loss in the decisive fifth game on Tuesday.

Sophie Hall led the Knights with 14 kills, five aces, five blocks and two digs. Ashley Turcotte collected 16 digs, seven kills, five aces and a block. Mackenzie Everett finished with 28 assists and eight digs. Morgan Johnson had nine kills. Courtney Mulkins finished with 10 digs, while Whitley Mattern finished with nine digs.

Amber Sizemore led the Warriors with 16 kills and three aces. Andraia Bella finished with 10 digs for the Warriors. Brooke Queripel had 12 kills, three blocks and two aces. Courtney Anthony finished with 17 digs and four aces. Peyton Mobley finished with 47 assists.

Colony improved to 5-5 in NLC play with the win. Wasilla is 4-6.

The Knights finished in a third-place tie with Soldotna in the NLC regular-season standings. Tiebreakers will determine the seeds for the upcoming NLC tournament, which starts Thursday at Palmer High. The teams did split a two-match regular season series.

Wasilla is locked into the tournament’s fifth seed, and will play either Colony or Soldotna Thursday at 1 p.m.

Hawks swept on road.

SEWARD — The Seward Seahawks scored a 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, 25-5) Southcentral Conference win over the Houston Hawks Thursday in Seward.

Friday, Nikiski dealt Houston at 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-11) loss at Nikiski.
