ANCHORAGE — The Colony Knights were eliminated from the ASAA/First National Bank State Softball Championships during the first day of play at Ca rtee Fields in Anchorage on Friday.
Chugiak and Dimond both dealt the Knights lopsided losses to push Colony out of the tourney. Colony opened with a 12-1 loss to Chugiak, the eventual runner-up in the championships. Dimond shut out the Knights 10-0 later that afternoon.
Colony finished the season 6-7 overall, 5-4 in Railbelt Conference play and 0-2 in the tourney. The Knights will lose just two seniors from the squad — shortstop Dani Buckley and first baseman Mary Dombroski.
East Anchorage won the state title with a 13-3 win over Chugiak.
