ANCHORAGE — The West Anchorage Eagles needed a big second half to get past the Colony Knights Thursday night.
West used 44 second-half points to score an 82-70 victory over Colony during the first round of the Alaska Airlines Classic at West High.
Alex Nygard and Anton Chamblee scored 20 points each for the Knights in the loss. The duo combined for nine of Colony’s 10 three-pointers. Nygard hit 5 of his 9 attempts from beyond the arc. Nolan Martin and Tyler Boyer added 11 points each. Martin was 8 of 11 from the free throw line.
With the loss, Colony drops into the consolation semifinals of the eight-team tournament and will face Bartlett Friday at 2:30 p.m. at West High. Bartlett suffered a loss to Planet Athlete of Arizona
The bracket features five Alaska teams and three squads from outside the state. In other action. Barrow beat Longmont (Colorado) and East Anchorage beat Pro-Vision of Texas.
