WASILLA — Last month, the Colony Knights suffered a disappointing 7-0 loss to West Anchorage.
With the Eagles back in town Tuesday, the Knights were ready to show West the lopsided loss was a fluke. Colony got some redemption as four players scored during a 4-1 win over West at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla.
Trevor Naylor, Jonathon Boyer, Morgan McJimsey and Sarah Diltz each scored for Colony, which posted its eighth victory of the season with the win. Diltz scored her first career varsity goal in the third period.
Forrest Savel made 23 saves to earn the win in the Knights net. Colony returns to the ice to host Juneau-Douglas today at 5:30 p.m. at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena and Chugiak Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Menard Arena.
WASILLA — The Dimond Lynx needed a big effort from an underclassman to get by the Wasilla Warriors earlier this week.
Sophomore forward Drake Glover scored five goals to lead the Lynx to a 6-2 come-from-behind victory over the Warriors at the Brett Memorial Ice Arena on Tuesday.
Wasilla took a 2-1 lead into the second period. Freshman Colton Fletcher scored with just more than three minutes left in the first period to tie the score at 1. Senior captain Chancie Hanson found the back of the net with only three seconds remaining to give Wasilla the 2-1 lead.
Glover scored the first of his five goals early in the second to tie the score at 2. Glover supplied the game-winner with 1:08 left in the second.
Sophomore goalie Rhys Jones made 53 saves in the Wasilla loss. The Warriors put 27 shots on goal.
Wasilla is back on the ice to face rival Palmer today at 7 p.m. at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla.
