On Friday, both Fox and Roetman advanced to the final round of the Lancer Smith Memorial Invitational at Palmer High School. Fox will go for the 112-pound title, while Roetman will try to be the top wrestler at 103.

PALMER — The Colony Knights hold a commanding lead after the first day of the Palmer Lions Lancer Smith Memorial Invitational wrestling tournament.

The three-time defending 4A state champion Knights moved five grapplers into the final round of the meet hosted by Palmer High School.

Colony senor Eric Fan, the defending state champion at 215 pounds, pinned South Anchorage’s Nick Archuleta in the second period to advance to the finals.

Noah Boatman (103), Isaac Wilson (119), Charles Coisman (125) and Kenny Boykin (171) also advanced to the finals for CHS.

Wasilla finished with a second-place total of 131.5 points during the first day of the tourney.

Abe Fox (112), Josh Brown (130) and Derek Johnson (140) advanced to the finals for Wasilla.
