Knights move into semifinals of state volleyball tourney

ANCHORAGE - The Colony Knights used a 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-7, 25-20) win over the West Valley Wolfpack on Thursday to move into the semifinals of the ASAA 4A State Volleyball Championships.

Senior middle hitter Hannah Curtis posted 23 kills in the win, and senior Desi Diselrod collected 22 assists.

Colony's win over West Valley marked the first loss of the season for the Mid-Alaska Conference champions. Colony is the runner-up from the Northern Lights Conference.

With the win, Colony will now face either Juneau-Douglas or Dimond in the second round. The first serve is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Friday at West Anchorage High School.

The Colony match marked the first of four 4A matches scheduled for Thursday. Two of the other matches also include Valley teams. Wasilla meets South Anchorage, the two-time defending state champions at 5:15 p.m., and Palmer will face Eagle River at 7:15 p.m.
