PALMER — With another win, the Colony Knights have moved another two spots up the Alaska prep football ladder.
Colony, a 31-14 winner at Lathrop High School last Friday, is ranked third in the latest large-schools poll, released by the Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network on Monday. The Knights (3-2) are winners of three straight and face rival Wasilla Friday at 7 p.m.
Colony is the lone Valley team ranked in the Week 5 poll, but Palmer did receive votes. The Moose improved to 3-2 with a 47-19 win over North Pole at North Pole High School last Saturday. Palmer hosts West Valley Friday at 7 p.m.
West Anchorage, the lone undefeated team in the large-schools ranks, held on to its top spot with a 28-14 win over Eagle River. Service edged Chugiak 30-27 and is ranked second. Juneau-Douglas is fourth following a 31-14 victory over Wasilla.
Dimond is ranked fifth, thanks in part to a 32-14 come-from-behind win over Bartlett.
Soldotna (5-0) stayed on top of the small-schools list with a 46-27 win over Skyview. Thunder Mountain (5-0) is ranked second.
Following a 55-0 win over Valdez, Eielson is ranked third. Kenai, which beat large-schools West Valley 47-20, is fourth. Homer, following its 28-6 win at Kodiak, is fifth.
