PALMER - The Colony Knights may have had a secret weapon, that's not too secret anymore.
On Friday, Nutt Jaruvongvanich, an exchange student from Thailand, scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Knights to a 5-1 Northern Lights Conference win over Homer.
And on Saturday, Jaruvongvanich scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Eagle River at Anchorage Football Stadium.
“He's definitely got a lot of skill,” Colony head coach Jeremy Johnson said.
Sophomores Cody Fritz and Tim Jaronik, and freshman Jesse Rouse also scored in the win over the Mariners.
Colony took a 2-0 lead within the first 20 minutes of regulation, and the Knights were able to maintain control of the game.
The Knights did suffer a loss in the
win.
With about 20 minutes to play, Colony senior goalkeeper George Percak-Dennett was kicked in the face on a play. Johnson said Percak-Dennett bit through his bottom lip, and was bleeding heavily.
Elliot Gilbert played the final 20 minutes in net for the Knights.
Percak-Dennett was not available to play against Eagle River.
In the win over the Wolves, Colony out-shot its opponent 10-2. Jaruvongvanich had two goals reversed due to offsides calls.
Gilbert and Jesse Krey combined for the shutout in net.
Colony girls play to tie
Colony and Homer played to a scoreless tie in girls' soccer action at Colony High School on Friday.
Colony is now 0-2-1 this season.
Last week, the Knights suffered losses to Juneau-Douglas and Wheat Ridge, Colo., in Juneau.
