Knights pin title at Dimond

ANCHORAGE — With the help of three individual champions, the Colony Knights earned the team title at the Glenn Vandergaw Classic at Dimond High School on Saturday.

Seniors Eric Fan and Charles Coisman and junior Renn Wright each finished first in their respective weight classes.

Fan needed only 41 seconds to pin Service’s Andy Enz to win the 215-pound title.

Wright followed with a 7-1 victory over Wasilla’s Ryan Pomrenke to win the final heavyweight match.

Coisman pinned Skyview’s Bryce Wilson at the 5:19 mark to win at 119.

Isaac Wilson (112) and Sam Loggins (135) also advanced to the finals and finished second.

A pair of Wasilla wrestlers also won their weight classes.

Josh Brown upset East Anchorage’s Skylar Moore 7-6 in the 130-pound final. Abe Fox scored a 10-1 major decision over East’s Nathan Marquez to win at 103.

Moose third in Bethel

Palmer senior Evan Parsons captured an individual title and led the Moose to a third-place finish in the team standings of the Bethel Invitational.

Parsons scored a 6-0 win over Bethel’s Iljber Kedriu in the 189-pound final.

Cole Frohling (275) and Luke Huen (119) also advanced to the finals for the Moose and finished second.
