Knights softball earns three straight wins

PALMER — Senior pitcher Olivia Martin earned victories in consecutive starts and helped the Colony Knights push their winning streak to three games this past week.

Martin fanned four and scattered seven hits during an 11-3 win over rival Palmer Thursday evening.

Cassidy Evans finished 3 for 3 at the plate and catcher Shelby Ries blasted a home run for the Knights in the win. Chelsea Friesen, Mack Everett and Ries each finished with a pair of hits.

Martin also pitched a four-inning victory April 27 and led the Knights to an 11-4 win over North Pole. Martin recorded nine strikeouts against the Patriots.

Martin and Evans each finished with two hits. Martin, Friesen, Everett and Courtney Mulkins scored two runs each.

Colony also posted a 15-3 win over Skyview on April 27. Everett fanned nine hitters during the win. At the plate, Everett collected a pair of hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Mulkins led Colony with three RBI against Skyview. Friesen also had two RBI.

Mulkins hit a home run in the victory.

Colony (3-2) started the season with a pair of losses to Lathrop.

The Knights return to the field to face rival Wasilla Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
