PALMER — The Colony Knights split a pair of Northern Lights Conference games in Kenai Friday night.
The Colony girls earned a 3-0 win over the Kardinals. Gabby Wakaliuk, Sahara Iverson and Jazlyn Nino each scored for the Knights. Madison Zmuda recorded the shutout.
In a rematch of the 2016 NLC boys’ title game, Kenai edged Colony 2-1. Michael Sliwa scored the lone goal for the Knights.
Colony followed with a sweep at Soldotna on Saturday. Iverson led Colony with a pair of goals. Nino, Wakaliuk, Autumn Richardson and Annie Kessler also scored. Noah Krozel notched a natural hat trick in the first half of a 4-1 boys’ win over the Stars. Isaiah Hall also scored.
Thursday, Wakaliuk scored twice to lead the Knights to a 6-0 girls’ win over Lathrop. Nino, Iverson, Madi Wakaliuk and Kessler also scored for Colony. Ashlynn Cornelison recorded the shutout in goal. The Colony boys also scored a win over the Malemutes. Krozel scored twice in the 3-1 victory. Sliwa also scored.
The Knights opened NLC play on Tuesday with a 7-0 win over Houston. Kessler and Iverson each scored twice. Nino, Gabby Wakaliuk and Kira Fagerstrom also scored.
The Colony boys also posted a 7-0 win over the Hawks. Krozel and Isaiah Hall scored two goals each. Kyle Dearborn, Rory Grant and Ethan Overland also scored.
Moose, Hawks split
Palmer earned its first victory of the season, beating Houston 2-0 on Thursday at Palmer High.
Reed Godden and Isaiah Montoya scored for the Moose.
The Houston girls beat Palmer 2-0 earlier in the day.
