FAIRBANKS — Each day Mackenzie Everett steps on the mound for Colony, Everett and the Knights find a way to deliver.
Friday, Everett struck out 10 and walked none to lead the Knights to a 7-3 prep softball win over West Valley in Fairbanks.
Everett pitched a complete game for the Knights, scattering four hits over seven innings. She also allowed only one earned run.
Chelsea Friesen, Courtney Simmons and Cassidy Evans finished with two hits each for the Knights. Everett and Tesa Finley each drove in a pair of runs. Friesen scored a team-high three runs for Colony.
The Knights followed the win with a 13-4 loss to Lathrop on Saturday. Friesen and Everett both finished 2 for 3 at the plate. Friesen scored two of Colony’s four runs.
Moose edge Stars
SOLDOTNA — Palmer pushed the go-ahead run across the plate in the top of the seventh inning, and the Moose earned a 7-6 win over Soldotna in Soldotna Friday.
SoHi jumped to an early 2-1 advantage, but the Moose grabbed a 6-2 lead after two innings. The Stars were able to rally and tie the game at 6.
Palmer’s game at Kenai was cancelled due to poor air quality in Kenai.
