The host Colony Knights swept the team titles of their own cross-country running meet, the Colony Invitational, Aug. 27 at CHS. The Colony girls finished with 34 total points, 14 better than runner-up Soldotna. The boys finished with 35, three better than Grace Christian.
Colony’s Ella Hopkins led Valley athletes with a runner-up finish, and mark of 20 minutes, 6 seconds in the varsity girls race. Matthew Rongitsch led the Knights with a third-place finish in the varsity boys race, and a time of 16:29.
Rongitsch was the first of four Knights to finish in the top seven of the varsity boys race. Tobias Buchanan, Zac Cheyette and Coby Marvin finished fifth through seventh for Colony.
Colony’s Morgan Ainsworth (fifth) and Rachel Danz (seventh) also finished in the top seven of the girls race.
Tobin Miller led Palmer with an eighth-place finish in the boys race, and Fischer Adams was 10th for the Moose.
Mya Campbell led Redington with a 29th-place finish in the girls race. Kinley Bruno was 31st for the Wasilla girls.
Stephen Hafen led Wasilla with a 15th-place finish in the boys race.
