Knights sweep Government Peak relay races

The Colony Knights swept the relay races during the Government Peak Recreation Area Invitational Saturday at GPRA.

Weston Sensabaugh, Banyan Smyth, Raven Spangler and Jebediah Marvin combined to post a time of 36:44 en route to a win in the boys relay.

Breeze Buchanan, Luci Wright, Elliot Sensabaugh and Clara Sensabaugh used a combined time of 44:37 to win the girls relay.

The Colony boys owned the top three positions on the podium following the 7.5-kilometer mass start. Banya Smyth earned cross-country gold in the race, notching a time of 24 minutes, 48.3 seconds. Raven Spangler (25:31) and Jake Black (25:57) followed in second and third.

Weston Sensabaugh also finished in the top five, placing fifth at 26:23.

Elliot Sensabaugh led the Knights on the girls side, with a runner-up finish and time of 29:57.

Sensabaugh led a group of half-dozen Knights in the top 10 of the girls race. Clara Sensabaugh was fourth at 31:23. Luci Wright (31:49) and Aubrey Virgin (32:09) followed at fifth and sixth, and Breeze Buchanan (33:27) and Elsie LeCount (34:19) placed eighth and ninth.

Kyndle LaRousse led Palmer with a third-place finish in the girls race, and time of 30:50. Amelia Parker also finished in the top 10 for the Moose, placing seventh at 32:49.

Teigan Coop led the Palmer boys, placing 18th at 30:04.
