Knights sweep Moose

PALMER — Fueled by fast starts, the Colony girls and boys squads cruised to a varsity basketball sweep Tuesday night at Palmer High School.

The Colony girls, the top-ranked 4A girls team in the latest Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches Poll, bested Palmer 54-19. The CHS boys, ranked No. 2 at the 4A level by the AABC, notched a 58-25 win over the Moose.

Tori Schwantes and Maggie Spencer scored 13 points each for the Colony girls. Spencer hit a pair of threes in the first half, and Schwantes scored six straight points in the second quarter.

Colony opened the game on a 14-2 run, and held Palmer to just a Catherine Uschmann basket in the first quarter. Indiya Clarke added nine points for the Knights, who capped the game on a 28-9 run.

Lily Anderson led Palmer with five points.

The Knights jumped to a 24-8 lead during the boys victory. Colton Spencer hit a pair of early threes, and scored eight during the first quarter. Patrick McMahon and Jeremiah Hersrud added seven each during the first eight minutes.

McMahon led the Knights with a game-high 21. Hersrud finished with 11, and Spencer scored 10.

Dae Osiensky led Palmer with eight points.

ACS girls 59, Wasilla 54

Wasilla was two possessions shy of serving Anchorage Christian School its first girls basketball loss since the 2017-18 season. ACS edged the Warriors 59-54 Tuesday at Wasilla High School.

Bella Hays and Harmony McSorley both finished with double-doubles. Hayes had 14 points and 14 rebounds. McSorley collected 11 points and 10 boards.

Mykaila Pickard led ACS with 19.
