Knights sweep Soldotna Invite swimming and diving meet

The Colony Knights swept the Soldotna Invitational swimming and diving meet Saturday in Soldotna.

Hannah Cooper and Jasmine Anderson each won a pair of events to help the Knights finish first in the team standings. Isaiah Hulien scored two wins to lead the Colony boys to the team title.

The Colony girls finished with 104 total points in the team standings, and the boys had 88.

Charlize McManus (girls diving), Grady Dhondt (boys 50 freestyle) and Thomas Smith ( boys 100 backstroke) also won events for Colony.

Travis Thornton led the Wasilla boys with a first-place finish in diving. Jackson Charton led Palmer with runner-up finishes in the boys 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly races.

Anderson led Valley swimmers during the Soldotna Pentathlon on Friday with a runner-up finish in the girls standings. The annual pentathlon features five events — 100 individual medley, 50 butterfly, 50 backstroke, 50 breaststroke and 50 freestyle — and athletes are ranked by the lowest cumulative time.

Anderson logged an overall time of 2 minutes, 59.73 seconds after finishing first in the 100 IM (1:01.94) and 50 breaststroke (31.06), third in the 50 butterfly (28.58) and 50 freestyle (26.47), and fifth in the 50 backstroke (31.68). Cooper was fourth in the girls standings for CHS, with a total time of 3:09.49. She was fourth in the 100 IM (1:05.85), 50 backstroke (30.27) and 50 breaststroke (35.39), fifth in the 50 freestyle (27.31) and seventh in the 50 butterfly (30.27).

Hulien led the Colony boys with a fourth-place finish and total time of 2:49.95. He was third in the 100 IM (59.48) and 50 butterfly (25.22), fourth in the 50 breaststroke (31.95), and seventh in the 50 backstroke (29.28) and 50 freestyle (24.02).

Palmer’s Aidan Houser also posted a top five finish, placing fifth in the boys standings with a time og 2:50.55. Houser was fourth in the 100 IM (59.85), fifth in the 50 breaststroke (30.22), 50 freestyle (23.54) and 50 backstroke (28.82), and eighth in the 50 butterfly (26.12).
