Knights sweep Valley Invite team titles

The Colony Knights boys and girls swimming and diving teams have multiple team titles. But on Saturday, the Knights earned the chance to do it in their home pool.

Colony swept the team titles during the Valley Invitational at the Palmer Pool.

The Knights boys and girls finished with 236 combined points, 128 for the boys and 108 for the girls.

The Colony boys finished with more than twice as many total points as runner-up Kenai (60). Colony swept the three relay events — the 200 medley, and 200 and 400 freestyle relays — and four individual events. Pierce McDonough led Colony with wins in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Isaiah Hulien (100 butterfly) and Hudson Duguid (100 breaststroke) also finished first. Kellan DenBleyker (200 freestyle), Beck LaBoucane (200 individual medley), Thomas Smith (50 freestyle), Jerzey Lane (100 butterfly), Iver Gates (100 freestyle) and Reven Settle (100 backstroke) placed second.

Hannah Cooper led the Colony girls with a pair of wins, finishing first in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle. Charlize McManus (diving) and Chloe Blackburn (100 freestyle) also won events. Claire Wallstrum (diving) and Meili Smith (100 backstroke) placed second, The Knights also won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.

Palmer finished second in the girls team standings with 79 total points. Kylie Benner led the Moose with wins in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Nina Adams was first in the 100 breastroke for Palmer. The Moose placed second in the 200 medley relay.

The Palmer boys were third in the team standings. Jackson Charton was first in the 50 freestyle and second in the 100 butterfly for the Moose.

Travis Thornton won the boys diving event to lead the Wasilla Warriors.
