Knights sweep Wasilla Invite swimming meet

Colony’s Isaiah Hulien and Hannah Cooper each used individual wins to help the Knights sweep the team titles during the Wasilla Invitational Saturday at the Wasilla Pool.

Hulien won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 53.36 seconds and the 100 butterfly with a mark of 58.37. Hulien is now 2-for-2 in the 100 butterfly in Valley meets this year.

Thomas Smith and Hudson Duguid also won events. Smith finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.34. Duguid was first in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 1:12.87.

Hullen and the Knights took the top three spots in the 200 freestyle. Kellan DenBleyker earned second place with a time of 1:56.14, and Reven Settle earned third with a time of 2:02.09. Colony also swept the top three of the 100 butterfly. Smith earned second place with a time of 58.91, and Landeyn Halstead came in third with a time of 1:01.81.

Colony finished with 147 total points in the boys team standings.

Cooper led the Colony girls with wins in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke. She won the 200 free with a time of 2:03.69, and the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:04.26.

Cooper and her teammate Jasmine Anderson, who placed second in the 100 backstroke, both finished with their best time in the event. Anderson finished with a mark of 1:05.78.

Anderson finished first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:13.87. Kendyl Ligman from Colony won the 100 fly with a time of 1:19.00. Aubrey Bunch of Colony was able to win the 500 free with a time of 6:20.91.

Colony’s Charline McManus placed first in girls diving.

The Knights finished with 159 total points in the girls team standings.

Palmer was second in both the boys and girls standings.

Aidan Houser won a pair of events for the Moose boys. He was first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:20.18 and first in the 100 freestyle at 52.69.

Houser and the Moose swept the top three in the 100 freestyle. Jackson Charton came in second at 53.67, and London Lee came in third with a time of 54.48.

Charton also was first in the 50 freestyle with a mark of 23.74.

Charton’s sibling Addie won the girls 50 freestyle for the Moose, with a time of 26.35. Charton won a pair of events for the Palmer girls, also finishing first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 59.75.

Calvin Musgrave from Wasilla won the boys 1 meter diving to lead the Warriors.

Nina Adams from Palmer won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:12.50.

In the relay races, The Palmer boys (Houser, Jackson Neumann, Landon Lee and Jackson Charton) were able to out-touch Colony by .01 with a time of 1:37.82 in the 200 freestyle. The Colony boys team of Smith, Grady Dhondt, Landeyn Halstead and Hulien came in at 1:37.83.

The Colony boys (Settle, Duguid, Smith and DenBleyker).won the 200 medley relay. Palmer took second with Lee, Neumann, Charton and Houser.

The Palmer girls won the 200 medley relay for the second time this season. The team of Emily Stocker, Adams, Charton and Aubrey Stocker won by over 11 seconds over Colony (Makenzie Edgar, Olivia Noffke, Bunch, and Layla Dinwiddie).

The Colony girls ( Blackburn, Cooper, Ligman, and Anderson) won the 200 freestyle relay. They came in at 1:50.04. The Palmer girls ( Adams, Chloe Blackburn, Hannah Cooper, Kendyl Ligman, and Jasmine Anderson. They came in at 1:50.04. Palmer girls (Adams, Aubrey Stocker, Emily Stocker and Charton came in at 1:51.07.
