Knights sweep Wasilla Invite track titles

The Colony Knights swept the team titles at a track and field meet for the second straight week. Last week, it was in Homer. And the Knights did it again at Wasilla Saturday.

The Colony girls finished with 136 total points and the boys had 121 during the Wasilla Invitational.

Annelise Larsen, Ella Hopkins and Sophie Allen won events to lead the Colony girls. Larsen was first in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 59.84 seconds. Hopkins won the 800 with a time of 2:23.33. Allen used a mark of 31 feet, 8 inches to win the high jump.

Hopkins (1,600), Sydney Simpich (800), Aubrey Virgin (3,200) Halie Sandstrom (high jump) and Audrie Fischer (discus) each placed second. Virgin (1,600) and Jade Wood (high jump) were third. Simpich (1,600) was fourth, and Sandstrom (triple jump) were fifth.

Kenton Phelps and Kenneth Motton won events for the Colony boys. Phelps won the discus with a distance of 141-9. Motton was first in the triple jump at 42-4. Phelps (shot put) and Andrew Richardson (discus) placed second. Richardson (shot put), Treyvon Lott (triple jump) and London Rameriz (110 hurdles) were fourth. Ramirez (300 hurdles), Lott (high jump), Theodore Stamoolis (1,600), Haakan Erickson (110 hurdles) and Ousley (shot put) placed fifth.

Hailee Giacobbe led the Wasilla girls with a first-place finish in the 3,200, with a time of 11:50.50. Layla Hays was second in the shot put and third in the discus. Mia Christiansen was fifth in the shot put.

The Wasilla boys 1,600 relay team (Kaleb Boothby, Stephen Hafen, Gabrie; Carey and Nathan Shipley) was first. Barak Wagle was fourth in the high jump. Boothby (400) and Hafen (800) were fifth.

Corbin Gerkin led the Palmer boys with a win in the high jump, and a personal best mark of 5-10. Reed Craner was third in the 200, Nolan Garner placed fourth in the discus and Sawyer Wilhelm placed fifth in the 100.

Leila Petersen placed in the top four in three events. She was third in the 200 and 400, and fourth in the 100.

Jessie Wentworth led Susitna Valley with a first-place finish in the girls high jump. Austin Barnard was second in the high jump for the Rams boys.

Mia Bukala was third in the girls long jump and fourth in the 100 hurdles for Redington. Alexia Pike placed fourth in the girls discus for the Huskies.
