FAIBANKS — The Colony Knights swept the Interior Invite in Fairbanks on Saturday.
Brandon Schafer won the boys race to lead the Knights. Schafer finished the course in 17 minutes and 42 seconds to score the individual title. He was also the one of three Knights to lead the pack. Schafer’s teammate Lyon Kopsack (17:43) finished second, while Colony’s Boaz Sessom (18:07) was third. Lane Reed finished in eighth for Colony, and Kamber Lucas (14th), Dakota Peterson-Thompson (15th) and Trevor Murray (16th) also posted top-16 finishes for the Colony boys.
Senior Audrey Michaelson led the Knights with a runner-up finish in the girls’ race and Colony’s Makenzie Thompson was third.
Bailey Meier (sixth), Tatjana Spaic (ninth) and Jocelyn Kopsack (11th) also finished in the top-11.
The Colony boys won the team titles with 28 points, well ahead of runner-up Lathrop’s 69. The girls finished with 27 points, nearly half that of second-place Lathrop (49).
SKYVIEW — The two-time defending state champion Wasilla Warriors made it 2 for 2 in 2012, winning the Skyview Invite in Soldotna Saturday.
Wasilla, which opened the regular season with a team title in the Bartlett Invite last week, finished 10 points head of runner-up West Anchorage. Grace Christian finished in third place.
Mariah Burroughs led the Warriors with a fifth-place finish. Burroughs clocked a time of 19:02. Jenna Ford was seventh for WHS.
Brenden Lee led the Warrior boys with a time of 17:02.
