WASILLA — The Colony Knights finished third in the gold bracket of the West Spiketacular Saturday in Anchorage.
Colony beat Northern Lights Conference rival Soldotna 2-0 before falling to South Anchorage 2-0 in the bracket’s semifinals. Palmer also played in the gold bracket, finishing tied for fifth after a 2-0 loss to South.
Wasilla finished third in the Spiketacular’s silver bracket. The Warriors advanced to the silver semifinals, but Juneau-Douglas advanced to the final by slipping past Wasilla 2-1 in the best-of-3 series.
Wasilla moved into the semis with a 2-0 win over Nome.
During the first day of the tournament, Colony finished 5-2 in pool play. Palmer was 5-3, and Wasilla finished 4-4.
Hawks win bracket a Valdez tourney
The Houston Hawks won their bracket during the Valdez Invitational last week in Valdez.
Amanda Lorenzo used 27 total kills for the weekend to help the Hawks with the silver bracket of the Valdez tournament. Lorenzo had 79 total attacks for Houston. Makayla Moore added five kills on 17 attacks. Audrey Giddings had a pair of aces for Houston.
