WASILLA — If the Palmer Moose could discount the first period in their Friday night game against Colony, they would have walked away with a tie.
The Moose matched Colony goal-for-goal in the second and third periods, but unfortunately for the Moose, they could not overcome the Knight's seven goal first period performance and dropped their 17th game of the season.
Matt Piatt tallied three goals to lead Colony's first period battering of Moose goaltender Cameron Galvin. The Knights fired 28 shots on the goaltender, forcing a defensive replacement for the Moose.
Palmer goalie Morgan Jett replaced Galvin after the first period and held the Knights to just two goals in two periods. Jake Luthi shelved two goals for the Knights, while freshman Dean Schultz dished out three assists in the game. Knight's goaltender Tony Keller notched the win for the Valley's top-ranked hockey team.
Jenah Stewart and Eli Riggs netted both goals for the Moose.
