ANCHORAGE — Colony quickly bounced back from a loss in its season opener and grabbed a 6-3 victory over Dimond at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage on Tuesday.
Colony, which dropped an 8-6 loss to Valley rival Wasilla on Monday, used a four-run fifth inning to earn the nonconference victory over the Lynx Tuesday.
Matt Palmer and Layne Cottingham each finished with a pair of hits for Colony. Cottingham and Logan Sanders drove in two runs each. Palmer, Cottingham Ben Ross, Brandon Jakiemiec and Dalton McHugill each scored a run.
Starter Ryan Judd didn’t allow a run, and scattered three hits with three strikeouts over four innings.
Monday, the Wasilla Warriors continued their hot start with an 8-6 win over rival Colony at Wasilla High School.
Nolan Monaghan yielded nine hits and four earned runs over five innings of work to earn the win on the mound for the Warriors. Tyler Boensch pitched the final two innings and notched the save.
Wasilla used a big fourth inning to take the lead. Trailing 4-2, the Warriors erupted for five runs in the inning to take the 7-4 lead. Wasilla drew 11 walks in the win. Blake Marks and Sam Loyer each walked three times. Loyer scored three runs in the win.
