The Colony Knights baseball and softball teams were in Fairbanks for regional tournaments over the weekend. Both left the Interior with the hardware as champions.
Colony scored a 6-5 win over West Valley to win the Railbelt Conference baseball title. In softball, Colony’s Alyssa Arredondo hit a walk-off triple to give the Knights an 11-9 victory over West Valley, and the Railbelt title.
The Knights scored four runs in the second inning of the region baseball final against the Wolfpack. Cauy Trangmoe was 3 for 3 for the Knights, with a run and an RBI. Brayden Parrent drove in two runs. Boman Marks added two hits and two runs.
Colony opened with a 15-0 win over Lathrop. The Knights jumped to a 12-0 lead in the first. Deven Rhodes led the Knights with three runs and three RBI.
Colony advanced to the state tournament, which begins Thursday in Sitka. The Knights face Juneau-Douglas at 4 p.m. in the first round.
Arredondo led the Knights softball squad with four hits, three RBI and two runs in the win. Her biggest hit capped a seven-run seventh for the Knights, who trailed 9-4 midway through the final inning.
Emma Morrissey hit a home run in the victory. Jordyn Tragmoe added three hits, a run and an RBI. Amelia Houch also drove in three runs.
Colony also beat Wasilla 8-0 and West Valley 9-0 earlier in the tournament.
The Knights earned an automatic bid to the state tournament, which starts Thursday at Cartee Fields in Anchorage. Colony starts with pool play and will face Chugiak Thursday at 10 a.m. and Service at 2:45 p.m.
At the Division II level, Palmer and Houston have advanced to the state tournament.
Palmer, the runner-up in the Southcentral Conference, plays region rival Soldotna Thursday at 6 p.m. at Wasilla High in the first round. Houston qualified with an at-large bid. The Hawks play North Pole Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
Kodiak beat Palmer 14-4 in the region title game. The Moose moved into the championship with a 4-3 win over Soldotna. Reed Craner led the Moose with two hits, a run and an RBI against the Stars.
