ANCHORAGE — The Colony Knights prevailed as the top team in the Silver Bracket of the West Spiketacular at West Anchorage High School.
Colony knocked off Service in the final match of the bracket to notch its first-place finish.
The Knights were among three Valley teams in the Silver Bracket. Wasilla and Palmer finished tied for third. Colony beat Wasilla 2-0 (25-15, 25-13) in the semifinals. Service beat Palmer 2-0 (25-15, 25-21). Colony opened with a 2-0 (25-18, 25-18) win over Ketchikan. Wasilla forced the all-Valley semifinal with a 2-0 (25-15, 25-22) win over Juneau-Douglas. Palmer moved forward with a 2-0 (25-21, 26-24) victory over Lathrop.
The three Valley teams finished among the middle of the pack during pool play. Colony and Palmer were each 7-5, and Wasilla finished 6-6. Twenty-one teams participated in the tournament.
Dimond was the tournament’s overall winner, beating West Valley to win the Gold Bracket.
