The Colony Knights won the 2022 Stars and Stripes Showdown hockey tournament.
The Knights finished 3-0 in the 12-team, three-day tournament hosted by Palmer at the MTA Events Center. The Knights beat Delta 12-0, North Pole 4-0 and Soldotna 4-2.
Carsen Lantto scored seven goals during the win over the Huskies. Samuel Sturgis and Isaac McKenzie added two goals each. Robbie Yundt also scored.
Lantto scored a pair to lead Colony past North Pole. Joseph Kirk and Adam Kara also scored. The Knights had two power play goals and a shorthanded tally.
Lantto opened Colony’s weekend with a power play goal and shorthanded goal against Soldotna. Logan Lofland added a power play goal, and Kara also scored.
Wasilla was second in the standings with a 2-0-1 record. The Warriors beat Dimond 4-3 and Kodiak 10-0, and tied Soldotna 2-2.
Mason Holler, Branson Starheim, Sterling Myers and Sayer Sanders scored against the Lynx. Karson McGrew led Wasilla with two goals against Kodiak. Myers, Sanders, Starheim, Dalan Dubie, Samuel Giani, Simon Giani, Michael Greco and Easton McCree also scored.
McGrew and Starheim tallied goals against the Stars.
Houston was also 2-0-1 and finished fourth among the 12 teams in the tournament. The Hawks beat Kenai 3-2 and Dimond 3-0, and tied South Anchorage 2-2.
Trenton Hubar, Afanasy Efimov and Andrey Reutov scored against the Kards.
Reutov, Efimov and Brayden Spain found the back of the net against Dimond. Ari Burnside earned the 17-save shutout.
Anfim Konev and Daniel Matveev scored in the tie against South.
Host Palmer was 1-2-0 in the tourney. Palmer beat North Pole 3-0, and fell to Dimond 6-3 and South 3-2.
Mason O’Rourke, Xander Logan and Bradford Heard scored against North Pole. Keagan O’Bryan made 19 saves in the shutout.
Stuart McQuillin scored both goals in the loss to South.
Heard, Kinan Greco and Bryce Armstrong had goals against Dimond.
