HOUSTON — The Colony Knights are enjoying a solid start to the prep wrestling season.

During the first two weeks of the regular season, the Knights posted top 3 finishes in tournaments. That success continued Wednesday. Colony finished undefeated to win the Valley Duals at Houston High School.

Colony capped its perfect day with a 43-33 win over Wasilla in the duals event, which also featured Palmer and host Houston.

Robert Zimmerman (98 pounds), Robert Haan (160), Dawson Nash (170), Zach Doan (220) and Mitchell Daigle (285) each finished 3-0 in the duals. Nash edged Wasilla’s D.J. Morrow in the 170-pound match in the dual against Wasilla. Morrow advanced to the finals in two tournaments at 170 this season. Caleb Hopkins (126), Troy Loutzenhiser (145) and Spencer Adams (152) also earned wins over the Warriors.

Micah Mathis (1-6), Dillon Simpson (113) and Bryan McKimson (138) were each 3-0 for the Warriors. Wasilla finished 2-1 in the duals. Prior to the loss to Colony, Wasilla beat Palmer 71-18 and Houston 43-34.

Houston was 1-2 in the duals, and Palmer finished 0-3.

Last week, Colony was third overall in the Lancer Smith Memorial at Palmer High School. Colony started the season with a runner-up finish at the Nikiski Duals.

Next week, Colony, Palmer and Wasilla will be at Wasilla High for the North/South Invitational. Houston is hosting the 3A Southcentral Conference Championships.
